The short version
We store one item on your device without asking: your cookie choice itself, so we do not have to ask again. Everything else, which is only analytics, runs only after you have opted in, and stops if you opt out.
What is stored
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| rmn_consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choice. Stored in your browser's local storage, not sent to us. | 6 months |
| _ga, _ga_<id> | Analytics, consent required | Google Analytics. Distinguishes visitors and sessions so we can see which pages are used. Set only after you opt in. | Up to 13 months |
Analytics, and what we do with it
If you consent, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. We configure it to anonymise IP addresses, we do not enable advertising features, we do not build profiles, and we do not attempt to identify individuals. Aggregate usage tells us whether the technical pages are being read or skipped, which is genuinely how we decide what to write next.
Google acts as our processor for this, and may transfer data to the United States under the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Framework. You can read how Google handles it in their own documentation, and you can also install Google's browser opt-out if you prefer a setting that follows you across sites.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie preferences link in the footer of any page, at any time. Withdrawing consent is one click and takes effect immediately; we also clear the analytics cookies we can reach. You can additionally clear site data in your browser settings, and most browsers let you block cookies entirely; the site works fine without them.
No advertising, ever
We run no advertising cookies, no social media pixels, no cross-site trackers and no fingerprinting. If that changes, this page changes first and we will ask you again.
